I'm John Chávez, born and raised in Mexico City. I founded Hungry Nomads to share the city I know, beyond the brochures. I’ve spent years refining my routes to ensure you only sit at the tables where the flavor has a story to tell. My goal is simple. I take you away from the noise to meet the faces behind the stalls who feed this city every day. I’m here to help you experience the city not as a visitor, but through the flavors that define our daily life.

Since 2019, Hungry Nomads has been my personal mission to document and share the real Mexico City. This project is a carefully curated window into the traditions, folklore, and daily life that exist around our street food.
I spent over eight years navigating the corporate side of tourism, working with airlines and travel agencies. While that experience taught me the logistics of the industry, my life in this city taught me its soul. I decided to pivot my career to focus on what I love most: the food and culture that define my home.
Hungry Nomads is where my professional expertise meets my obsession with local history. I don’t just offer tours; I provide a truly authentic perspective by showing you a side of the city that isn't found in brochures. From traditional markets to emblematic taquerías, every stop on my routes has been handpicked to ensure you experience the culinary diversity and the amazing history behind it.
I appreciate you being here. I hope to meet you soon and personally show you why I am so proud to call this city my home.
